Aeron Systems, the Pune based developer and manufacturer of Inertial Navigation Systems, launched Pollux, its latest offering in the INS range of products, at Defexpo India 2018, held at Chennai from 11th to 14th April 2018. The Pollux was launched by Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal S B Deo. Pollux combines Aeron’s proprietary Kalman filter based parameter estimation engine with high-speed processing power to deliver position, ground speed, and orientation information at high update rate. Weighing just about 40 grams and highly compact in size, Pollux finds its use in multiple applications like soldier navigation, robots, drones and other ground and airborne platforms.
The versatile micro-miniature product caught the attention of stalwarts at India’s mega defense exhibition and gave everyone a glimpse of defense-related innovation happening in the private sector in India. Pollux is a multi-constellation GNSS aided inertial navigation solution which can give navigation data even in absence of GPS.
“It’s a great feeling to see this kind of innovative product being developed and manufactured in India” said Air Marshall on the occasion. “The INS has numerous applications and the company with its focused research in the field of INS is sure to have a great future ahead”, he added.
The launch of Pollux by the hands of VCAS Air Marshal S B Deo was a moment of pride for Ashvani Shukla, CEO of Aeron Systems who was present during the launch.
“Right from its inception, Aeron has shown a strong commitment and interest in the development of inertial navigation systems. Pollux is the result of consistent efforts of team Aeron and the technology excellence we have achieved” said Mr. Shukla.
Pollux was widely admired by dignitaries from the defense and private sector for its capabilities in a small SWaP (size, weight and power). Leaders from defense and numerous other industry segments appreciated Aeron’s efforts in the development of Pollux and were keen to try it out in their industry. Many dignitaries and OEMs from India and abroad visited Aeron Systems stall at the Defexpo.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, the main theme of this DefExpo 2018 was to showcase India as a major hub of defense equipment manufacturing in the world. Over 670 defense firms, including 154 foreign manufacturers participated in the exhibition. Apart from Pollux, Octantis, and Canopus, Aeron’s two other products in the INS segment attracted many visitors and a constant rush of visitors to explore the applications of these products in their industry.
